Meet the tune that you'll be sick to death of by September. Black and Gold
by US electro pop soul boy Sam Sparro was released last year, but
following a major label deal is set for re-release at the end of this
month with Pete Tong and Jo Whiley already queuing up to show some
love. Expect it to blow up in Miami and dominate Ibiza.
Black and Gold
is a super sexy slice of LA pop, with a cool vibe, a metronomic groove
and positively dripping with Sparro's silky vocals. My old school mate
Jon Harding would of called me a twat for liking this, but then my
first girlfriend Sarah something or other (who wore frog earings and
dribbled when she kissed) would have loved it. Not that you care.
The remix package is worth avoiding though as it's the usual dutiful major label offering and not a patch on the original.
Cheesy house, that's what I would have called it back in day. Maybe I'm just being grumpy because it makes me feel old and is a gloomy reminder that 'bikini clad' in Ibiza Town I won't be this year...hmmmm.
